Gwen Waters adds:
"They don't have a wedding phot - they eloped to Yuma, AZ, which was closer that Vegas for a quickie wedding, just before my dad left for B-17 training in Florida. She stayed home to finish her 2-year college degree and then joined him there. When he left for Guadalcanal, she went to work for Lockheed in Pomona, CA, riveting the fuselage on P-38's for the whole year he was gone. They had a truly great marriage. One of the great thrills I got out of that was that in one photo of my dad's bunk area - which was a real jumble on the tiny original - you can clearly see that my mom's picture (one of the ones I'll attach) is propped up right next to his bunk. It made me so happy to be able to show that to her."
