Built by Boeing at Seattle. Delivered to the U. S. Army. Ferried overseas via Hawaii to the South Pacific.
Assigned to the 11th Bombardment Group, 42nd Bombardment Squadron. Nicknamed "Alley-Oop" (with hypen between the words) with at least eleven bomb markings with Japanese flags below them indicating combat missions flown. Also thirteen Japanese flags indicating aerial victory claims plus a ship silhouette.
This B-17 flew combat missions over the South Pacific based at Espiritu Santo and Guadalcanal and flew combat missions over the Solomon Islands.
During June 1944 this B-17 was officially written off. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
