Aircraft History
Built by Boeing at Seattle. Constructors Number 2448. Delivered to the U. S. Army. Ferried overseas via Hawaii to Australia.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 19th Bombardment Group, to either the 28th Bombardment Squadron or 93rd Bombardment Squadron.

Next, transferred to the 43rd Bombardment Group, 63rd Bombardment Squadron from June to September 1943. Twin 50 caliber machine guns were added to the nose for increased firepower.

On the right side of the nose, nicknamed "Gone Forever" with the nose art of a reclining nude woman. Later, "Ready Betty" was added below the artwork. On the left side of the nose was another seated nude figure.

When the last B-17s were transferred out of the 63rd Bombardment Squadron, this bomber was flown back to the United States during November 1943.
