Aircraft History Built by Boeing at Seattle. Constructors Number 2265. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-17E Flying Fortress serial number 41-2454. Wartime History Assigned to the 19th Bombardment Group (19th BG). No know nose art or nickname. On January 29, 1942 or January 30, 1942 took off piloted by Lt. Skiles searched the crash site of B-17E 41-2476, but no survivors were seen. Later, this B-17 was evacuated from Java to Broome Airfield. On March 3 ,1942 destroyed by strafing A6M2 Zeros while parked at Broome Airfield.
