Aircraft History Built by Nakajima estimated date of assembly April 1944. True serial number 361. This Zero was the 361th Zero produced by Nakajima. Painted with dark green upper and gray lower surfaces. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). Assigned to the 261 Kōkūtai. Tail code 61-131. Wartime History During March 1944, operated from Aslito Airfield on Saipan. During the night on June 16-17, 1944 captured intact by the U.S. Army 27th Infantry Division. Later during July 1944, this Zero was one of twelve aircraft (plus spare engines) loaded aboard USS Copahee CVE-12 including this aircraft plus A6M5 1303, A6M5 4340, A6M5 5350, A6M2 5352, A6M5 5356 and A6M5 5357. All were transported to the United States for technical evaluation. During 1944-1945, this Zero was evaluated in the United States. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
