Aircraft History Built by Mitsubishi. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 0 Carrier Fighter Reisen / A6M3 Model 32 Zero manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group). Between 1943–1945, this Zero was part of a study led by Dr. Ukichiro Nakaya to solve a problem of ice adhering to surfaces of airplanes operating in cold areas. During an experimental test mission, this Zero crashed near the summit of Mount Nisekoannupuri on Hokkaido. Wreckage On August 1990, a part of the Zero fighter was found at Mt. Nisekoannupuri. More wreckage was discovered in late 2003, and reported in 2004 in a Niseko National Park, crashed during an experimental flight near the summit of the mountain. References Koku-Fan 2004 Contribute
