Kato Rail tractor abandoned at Tobera Airfield

This tractor ran on a narrow gauge, 610mm rail road at Tobera Airstrip It was used to pull carts full of dirt used to patch the airfields dirt runways when damaged by Allied bombs.

Chevrolet Engine
Surpassingly, the "striaght-8" engine of this tractor was manufactured by Chevrolet! Before the Pacific War, the Japanese imported much of their heavy equipment in the 1930's.

Tractor Damage
This is one of the metal engine covers from the tractor. It show the intensity of attacks against this specific vehicle.

Narrow Gauge Rail Road
This pair of bogies fit the carts pulled along behind the tractor that carried dirt to repair bomb damage in the runway area.
