Crane History Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as a floating crane. Late in the Pacific War, transported to Guadalcanal and moored off Kukum to service ships. After World War II, the crane remained off Kukum and either remained in Navy service or was given to the British administration. Sinking History During 1957 in a storm, the crane came loose from its moorings off Kukum and drifted to the west before running aground and sinking between Kokumbona and Poha where it was abandoned and remains to this day sunk in shallow water.
