Ship History
This Victory ship was built very late in WWII, named in March 1945 for former slave, Isaac Lane, the founder of Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee

Watime History
but made two Pacific crusies, begining July 10, 1945 to Manus Island, and the second starting August 30 1945 to Guam, Saipan and Hawaii.  Post war, she went on to serve at with distinction in both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.

Museum & Display
Aquired by the US Merchant Marine Veterans of WWII in 1982, she was towed from San Francisco to San Pedro in June 1989.

SS Lane Victory is now fully operational and conducts several memorial cruises each year. She has also been used as a set for many motion pictures and television productions and is a National Historic Landmark.
