Type A Midget Submarine

IJN
Type A Midget Submarine

Wartime History
Abandoned on its launching blocks in the submarine pens of Kiska Harbor. It was damaged by internal demolition charges set by the Japanese, and exposure to weather and souvenir hunters. Originally there were three midgets when the Allies liberated.

Wreckage
Only the one on the blocks and portions of another in the surf zone remain visible from the surface today. The sail is in good shape, and much remains of the interior spaces and propulsion machinery.
