Wartime History
Crippled by torpedoes from submarine USS Tinosa in July, 1943 she was badly damaged and extensive repairs were necessary at Truk Lagoon. During the first day of 'Operation Hailstone', sunk by planes from three carriers in Truk Lagoon.

Postwar Salvage
After the war, the ship was raised by the Japanese Government to salvage whale canning equipment. Its superstructure, a smokestack and debris remain in the lagoon.
