Sinking History
The ship was hit by two
1,000 lbs bomb from USS Essex and USS Bunker Hill planes causing it to explode and sank at Truk Lagoon on February 17, 1944.
Discovery
Discovered in 1973. There is
little marine growth because of the depth, 160 to the wreck on a 200 foot bottom. Limited exploration of this wreck has occurred.
