Ship History
Departed Port Moresby on March 17, 1942 at 7:30pm. The next day, at 3pm the Canberra was off Arden Island, 70 miles off Cape York. Twenty A6M2 Zeros of the 4th Kokutai located the ship returning from mission against Horn Island, and attacked with their machine guns and cannons, damaging the superstructure and injuring 13 crew members, five requiring hospitalization when the ship reached Townsville afterwards.
