BRIEF ITINERARY

Day 1 Sat 12/4/03 Arrival in Port Moresby from Sydney flight PX 006, transfer to Gateway Hotel for overnight. Overnight at GATEWAY HOTEL (D).

Day 2 Sun13/4/03 Arrival in Port Moresby from Narita flight PX 055, transit to Air Niugini flight, PX 204 for Rabaul. Join Japanese group from Narita flight and transfer to Rabaul and transfer to Hamamas Hotel. After breakfast, tour of Matupit Island and Mt Tavurvur Volcano. Afternoon, sightseeing tour to new Kokopo Township and Bitapaka War Cemetry. Overnight at HAMAMAS HOTEL. (BLD)

Day 3 Mon14/4/03 Morning tour of war memorials, Japanese tunnels, and war relics including Yamamoto’s secret bunker and wall map. Return for lunch at hotel. Afternoon scenic tour of north coast, stopping at Kulau Lodge for refreshments. Overnight at HAMAMAS HOTEL. (BLD)

Day 4 Tue15/4/03 Morning cruise of Rabaul’s Simpson Harbour, Beehive and close up view of Mt Vulcan from the ocean. Picnic lunch at Tavana Village. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at HAMAMAS HOTEL. (BLD)

Day 5 Wed16/4/03 Early morning charter flight Rabaul to Arawa. Check-in at Aravei Guest House, then tour of Arawa and Kieta Japanese war memorials and relics. Lunch at Mt Toniva Beach. Overnight at ARAVEI GUEST HOUSE. (BLD)

Day 6 Thur17/4/03 Early morning sightseeing tour of Arawa Village for traditional singsing, Rorovana Village and Loloho Beach for snorkeling and swimming. Lunch at Loloho. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at ARAVEI GUEST HOUSE. (BLD)

Day 7 Fri18/4/03 Early morning drive to Buin via Aku and Kokopo villages. 45 minutes walk to the crash site. Prayers, wreath laying and traditional dancing by locals. Traditional refreshment at crash site. Return charter flight to Rabaul. Overnight at HAMAMAS HOTEL (BLD)

Day 8 Sat 19/4/03 Return flight Rabaul to Port Moresby, on Air Niugini flight, PX 203, on arrival check-in at Jackson’s International Terminal for PX 090 flight to Cairns (B)

LAND COST PER PERSON:
US $1,110.00 on twin share room basis.

INCLUSIONS:
Land cost includes best available twin share accommodation, meals as specified in the itinerary, tours and fees, additional air charters, local feast, airport and tours transfers, local guides and government taxes.

EXCLUSIONS:
Land cost excludes international and PX domestic airfares, visa fees, access baggage charges, laundry and expenses of a personal nature such as beverage, phone/fax and email bills.
