Operation KE The Cactus Air Force and the Japanese Withdrawal From Guadalcanal This book details the history surrounding the Japanese evacuation from Cape Esperance at the conclusion of the Guadalcanal campaign during January-February 1943. A large portion of the book details the importance of Munda Airfield and the role it played in the campaign. Secretly built by the Japanese as their most forward airfield, they nearly completed the airfield prior to detection.
