Eta Jima

Island offshore from Hiroshima. Site of Japanese Naval Academy that graduated all of Japan's admirals and academy trained officers. In 1945, it was prepaired to be a defensive position in the expected American attack on the Japanese home islands, and students dug tunnel defenses. Today, it is still used as a base for the Japanese Self Defense Force.
