Brewster F2A Buffalo
Buffalos fought on June 4, 1942 during the Battle of Midway. Midway's Marine Fighting Squadron 221 (VMF-221) lost thirteen of twenty F2A-3s. Soon after, the Buffalo was removed from combat units and assigned to advanced training duty only. The obsolete F2A-2s and F2A-3s remained in the trainng mission into 1943, and a few were still in service in 1944-45.

Foreign Service
Buffalos also served with the RAAF and NEIAF in the Pacific during WWII. Two RAF squadrons, 21st and 453rd served in Singapore with Buffalos. These were RAF aircraft flown by RAAF pilots, but also suffered heavily against the Japanese in the air.
