Otta Island

Small island to the west of Mesegon Island, at the southern edge of Truk Lagoon. To the west is the large deep water passage, Otta Pass.

During the war, a six man detachment of the 41st Naval Guard Force was stationed on the island, to man two 15cm coastal defense guns and a 75mm searchlight and light anti-aircraft guns. Also, barracks, a sound locator and generator. The island was surrounded by 145 navy beach mines placed 40-60m from shore in 6m intervals.
