Located at the north-east edge of Truk Lagoon.

This island was not developed with defense until later in the war. During the Operation Hailstorm raids, only a small native hut and watchtower were observed, and construction for what was later two gun pits. Two 150mm coastal defense guns were emplaced here on pedestals and partially protected by ravetments, and had an almost 360 degree field of fire. Six men of the 43rd Naval Guard Force were stationed here to man the guns. 200 mines were placed 30m offshore 6m apart in two rows around the island's north side and one row around the rest.
