Santa Isabel Province

Province including Santa Isable Island, located on the eastern edge of the Solomon Island chain, north-west of Guadalcanal. Occupied by the Japanese, the island was bypassed from direct assault by Allied forces.

Thousand Ship Bay
Located on the south-east coast of the island, between San Jorge Island and Santa Isabelle. Name by Mendan who believed a thousand ships could fit in the area. On May 2, 1942 a Japanese seaplane tender and cruiser were here on their way to capture Tulagi, 60 miles to the south.

Fera Island
Small island off Buala. Prewar there was a plantation at Fera. Post war, an airstrip built at this location.
