Location Lat 3° 36' 0S Long 143° 35' 60E Sauri village is located at an elevation of 879' / 267m inland from the north coast of New Guinea. Also known as "Sauri 1" or "Sauri Hills" for the terrain features in the vicinity. To the north is Wewak Airfield (Wirui, Wewak Central) and beyond Wewak (Wewak Point). Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in Wewak District of East Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea.
