A pre-war Episcopal mission
exisited at this location. During the war, it was used by the Japanese as a staging base between bases in New Britain. Used to hide barges there. There is a German era shipwreck there, nothing other than steel there.
Sag Sag Agulupella Trail
A Japanese
trail ran east-west from Sag Sag to Agulupella and Natamo
Point. After
the discovery of the trail, a composite company of the
7th Marines commanded by Captain Parish landed at Sag Sag, and advanced
along the track.
