Location
Located to the north-west of Port Moresby. To the east is the Lea Lea River. To the south-east is Boera.

Redscar Head & Redscar Bay
Located at the mouth of Vanapa River and Galley Reach. Redscar is the name of a promenent rock that is red in color and clearly visible from the sea or air.

Varivari Island
Small island located to the northwest of Redscar

 

Caution Bay
Eight mile wide bay that stretches from Lagava Island to Boera Head forms Caution Bay.

Pilot Hawkins, force landed May 8, 1942 on Varivari Island

 

Idiha Island
Located at the southern edge of Caution Bay, south of Redscar and east of Boera.

Ray Fairfield recalls from the 1960-1970s:
"We found bombs of varying sizes on most islands, including Local and Idihi. I still remember the safety radius for a 500-pounder was 2 miles."
