Located to the east of Wewak, Boram, and Brandi to the east. Wewak
Harbor is
to the West, Dove Bay to the west.
Occupied by the Japanese when they occupied Wewak. In May 1945, Cape Moem was subjected to heavy artillery and bombing by Australian forces advancing from the west. The Cape was captured by the Australian 2/8 Infantry Battalion against light opposition on May 22, 1945.
Wewak War Cemetery
Australian Cemetery established on Cape Moem in 1945 for dead from the Wewak campaign. Maintained by 7 War Graves Unit with the assistnce of labor from ANGAU (Australian New Guinea Adminsitrative Unit). This cemetery was used until at least late October 1945. Later, the graves were exhumed and consolodated at the Lae War Cemetery.

Today a PNG defense
force Army base is located at the point. Post war PNGDF (PNG Defense Force) barracks located near the tip of
Cape Moem.

Located
at the interection of Kokoda Trail and Nassau Bay roads, inside the PNG
Defense Force base is a small display with a propeller from
a wartime aircraft and a Japanese
20mm Cannon.
At one point, apparently there was also a Japanese tank in the area, but today
there is no trace of it.
