The Manila American Cemetery is located about six miles southeast of the center of the
city of Manila, within the limits of the former U.S. Army reservation of Fort William McKinley (Fort Bonifacio). It can be reached most easily from the city by taxicab or other automobile via Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (Highway 54) and McKinley Road. The Nichols Field Road connects the Manila International Airport (Nichols Field) with the cemetery.
Dedicated
December 8, 1960. This is the largest cemetery administered
by the American Battle Monuments Commission, with 17,206 graves
of Americans killed in the Pacific. It includes
mosaic maps of the Pacific war, monument, chapel, and encompasses 152 acres.
