Location
Large lake that flows into the Khalkhin Gol (Khalkhin River). As deep as 50 meters in some areas.
Wartime History
During the Battle of Khalkhin Gol (Nomonhan Incident) during May-September 1939, the skies above this lake were the site of dog fights between Soviet and Japanese aircraft.
Several Soviet airfields were located near the southern side of the lake, linked by simple roads. Also, an airfield was located at the northern tip of the lake, near Kharkha Miao.
Today
The border between Mongolia and China runs along the northern and western edge of the Lake.
