History
A German colony, it Occupied by the Japanese until the end of WWII, at the end of the war, the garrison there was cut off from supply but did not surrender until Japan's surrender in September 1945 when they heard the surrender broadcast on Australian radio.

Japanese built single runway running roughly north-west to south-east in the center of Wotje island.

Today
It i still in limited use for small aircraft.

 


    Wotje Seaplane Base

Based Kawanishi H8K Emily flying boats from the 24th Air Flotilla, based at Jaluit and Wotje. Seaplanes of the group bombed Oahu on March 4-5, 1942.
