Wartime History
Likely a picket bout or sub chaser sunk between January 29 and February 1, 1944 by patrolling TF 58 aircraft and surface ship fire. It has been stripped of many brass artifacts and china.

Shipwreck
Nicknamed because of many unsuccessful attempts to located the vessel. The 75 - 100 foot wreck lies upright in 150 foot sandy bottom. The superstructure is in good shape. The bow has been bashed in and flattened. A MG is on the bow. The ship has a forwarded amidships hold, and an aft engine configuration. The wheelhouse and crew's quarters are located near the stern with a second MG.

  Schooner Wreck

 

Wartime History
Probably a two masted schooner type vessel sunk on January 31, 1944.

Shipwreck
W-SW of the pier, upright in the lagoon in 110 feet of water. Its holds are empty. Located 200 yards from shore in 130 feet of water directly west of the first. In good condition and the same size as the Phantom Maru.
