Lat 31° 36' 0N Long 130° 33' 0E  Kagoshima is the southernmost Prefecture on Kyushu Island. Kagoshima City is its capital is located on the Kagoshima bay across from Chiran.

Lat 31° 25' 0N Long 130° 19' 0E  Located in the west part of Satsuma Peninsula, Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu. The old name of the city was Bansei, meaning 'thousands of year.

Wartime History
In 1945, this base was used to launch kamikaze attacks. 829 Kamikaze pilots were killed on their missions after taking off from Kanoya.

Kushira

Wartime History
Constructed in April 1944 as a training base. On March 1, 1945, Kushira was used for kamikaze attacks. Kushira was the third largest kamikaze sortie base, after Kanoya and Chiran.

Built in October 1969, this memorial tower was built as a memorial. The area around the tower is called Kushira Peace Park.
