History
Japanese occupied for the duration of WWII. On January 13, 1945, three P-40s from 80 sqn ditched near Talaud Island when they flew past Morotai (where they were supposed to ferry the aircraft to). They ditched due to a lack of fuel, were captured and exectuted about 10 days later. This was apparently a war crime that several Japanese were tried and executed for.
