    Woleai Atoll (Mereyon, Mariaon) Yap State Federated States of Micronesia
Location
Lat 7.22.48N, Long 143.54.36E  Woleai Atoll is comprised of 22 islets, in the eastern Caroline Islands in Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia. Known to the Japanese as Mereyon. Also known as Mariaon. The eastern half of the atoll borders East Lagoon and Raru Channel to the south. The western half borders West Lagoon and the Orarai Channel to the south.

Wartime History
Occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War.

Woleai Island (Falalap, Furarappu, Oleai)  located to the southeast of Yap Island.
Woleai Airfield (Woleai Atoll Airport)  located on Woleai Island.
East Lagoon  located in the eastern half of Woleai Atoll.
Woleai Seaplane Base  located in East Lagoon in Woleai Atoll.
Paliau Island is located to the south of Woleai Island.
Raur Island  located to the south of Paliau Island
Mariyang Island (Mariaon)  located to the west of Woleai Island.
Taugalap Island (Tagaulap)  located to the southwest of Woleai Island.
