Location Lat 32° 2' 60S Long 115° 46' 0E Fremantle is located at the mouth of the Swan River on the southwest coast of Western Australia on Australia. Borders Fremantle Harbor and beyond to the north is Perth. Wartime History During the Pacific War, Fremantle was used as a naval base by the Allies and for submarines. Allied Submarine Plaque On March 20, 1995 a memorial plaque was unveiled to commemorate the Allied submarines that operated out of Fremantle during World War II from the U.S. Navy, Royal Navy and Netherlands.
