Daly Waters was upgraded during the war as an RAAF operational air base in February 1942

 

     Daly Waters Airfield

Waypoint airfield on the "Brereton Route" the early months of 1942 for operations between Australia to the Java. It was a staging base for aircraft from Cloncurry and then up to Darwin area airfields.
