Australian Army Aviation Corps, based in Lae, Papua New Guinea in 1969.

183 Recce Flt was a unit of the Australian Army Aviation Corps. It was raised in 1968 and we flew the aircraft (2 x Pilatus Porters and 4 x Bell 47 G3B1's Sioux) from Australia to Lae in July that year. I remained in New Guinea, flying until Jan 1971. Most of the photos were taken in 1968/69 using an Olympus Pen EE taking 1/2 frame 35mm color slides. It was a very small, basic camera that I could hold and operate with one hand while I was flying.
