1st Lt. Raymond S. Wood
Americal Division, 182nd Infantry Regiment

1st Lt. Wood, O-417980 was killed in action on Sea Horse on Guadalcanal on December 30, 1942. He earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart

In early 2008, John Innes was involved with the turn over of the remains of Lt Raymond Woods, whose remains were found on Sea Horse Ridge to the US Consulate of the Solomon Islands earlier this year, and sent to the US Embassy of Papua New Guinea who delivered them to JPAC who were in Port Moresby.

Wood's remains were reported as "one from the Solomon Islands (Guadalcanal)" in JPAC News Release 08-09, as arriving at Hickam AFB on September 26, 2008.
