Home of the Queensland
Air Museum. They have one of two surviving RAAF Venturas plus
a DC-3 used by General MacArthur.
I know that the DC-3 was originally a civil aircraft which was
impressed into USAAF service and carried the radio call sign VHCXL
in Australia. It was later allocated the USAAF serial 44-83229.
In 1946 it was given the civil registration VH-ANR and used bu
Australian National Airways. It was once used as a transport for
General Douglas MacArthur
Also, in their collection is a propeller blade from a Japanese
Betty bomber. It was apparently recovered from a swamp near Kaving,
New Ireland in 1978. Now on display at QAM, Caloundra.
