At the end of the war, 78,750 Americans were listed as Missing In Action (MIA), plus thousands more counting all Allied nations. Pacific Wrecks maintains profiles on known Pacific Missing In Action (MIA) cases. It includes resolved, pending and known cases awaiting attention. This is an ongoing project, with a goal to one day include all Pacific aircraft losses and MIA cases.

How Many Pacific MIAs from World War II?
Precisely how people are MIA in the Pacific is unclear. According to the Department of Defense tally as of September 6, 2006 there were 45,120 WWII dead in the Pacific Theatre. In March 2009, the Department of Defense noted 74,791 people remained missing from World War II to that date. At least 33,393 of these were specifically MIA in the Pacific Theatre.
