Need Serial Number of B-24 Lost In Papua New Guinea

Post by hennjhn »

A B-24 crashed on the mountains four miles from Bottless Bay, Papua New Guinea on 10/18/43. The plane was assigned to the 64th Bomb Squadron, 43rd Bomb Group. I would like if someone could please give me the serial number of this plane. One of the crew members name is 1st Lt. Jack D. Ganz. Thank You: John

John - believe Bruce Hoy can help you with the serial number for this aircraft and where it actually crashed. Understand you met Bruce in the 1980s

Daniel is correct with the names according to details given to me by Bruce two decades ago! Actually, his records has the B-24D as ditching in Bootless Bay off the end of the runway at Seven Mile. His notes also has Delray Echohawk as being from the Cherokee Nation but I am not certain whether this is correct or not. Doug
