A-20, little isadore

Post by algonquin »

Hi folks, I'm new to this site and would like to gather any infro. about my Uncle 1LT James McEvoy, who was killed in the So.West Pac. He was flying the A20 Little Isadore when he was shot down. I've always wanted to learn more about him and his unit and now retired I have the time. His legacy lead me to a 24 year carreer as a Army Pilot. Thanks Tom

Tom..
Your Uncle served in the 89th Sqdn of the 3rd Attack Group, better known as the Grim Reapers. He was lost on a mission in the Ipo Dam area. He was last seen over the target area with one engine smoking badly. Evidentally, there was another pilot, 1/Lt Avril Foreman, flying "piggyback" (laying on top of the life raft) who was the sole survivor of the crash. On board and lost :

McEvoy 1/Lt James T. Pilot

Prochnicki S/Sgt Joseph L. Gunner

Shapek S/Sgt John C. Engineer/Gunner

Here's some sited for you to check out:
