May 10, 2007 Swamp Ghost's condition

Post by Shay »

I was curious with SG's fate still undecided. Does anyone know what her current disposition is?

Is she still on the dock? In a warehouse? Fenced compound? Still in Lae? or what?

Thanks

Shay

Shay,

Hi there. As of last report, the Swamp Ghost is still on the dock at Lae, Bismarck Shipping where it was abandoned by the salvagers and became the subject of a year long PNG Government probe and PAC report.

For a list of all news articles to date, visit:
http://www.theswampghost.com/news/
http://www.theswampghost.com/news/pac/

I will be adding new information soon to the site, including my visit to the bomber at Lae and all news, information and the final PAC Government report that was released recently.

Interesting comment "abandoned by the salvagers".Maybe you should have written instead "salvage halted by persons unknown acting for their own interests instead of for the preservation of an important relic."But I guess we will never know the truth there will we Justin, either way the end result denies the proper treatment the aircraft deserves.Regards,Pete Bradley

On 'swamp ghost' and 'the truth'

Post by Justin Taylan »

Pete,

Your right, the news articles actually use the term 'impounded at Lae'.
http://theswampghost.com/news/2006/natl ... alert.html

You can read the PAC government's report on the salvage and its legality: http://www.theswampghost.com/news/pac/
This is actually the interum findings

Yes, I have been interested in the history of that B-17 for many years, met its former crew members, and made a DVD and website about it.

Regarding the truth, the PAC government report, that interviewed under subpoena the salvagers, their lawyer and other involved parties is the best source for the truth. That to me, is the closest we can hope to get to 'the truth'.

Very soon, look for a new update that covers all the news updates related to Swamp Ghost story in the past year, including:
- Photos of the wreck 'abandoned / impounded'
- Final report by the PAC / PNG government
- Audio & video transcripts of the entire hearings
- All news articles to date: http://www.theswampghost.com/news/

Meanwhile, will continue to track the story and any future developments in the story of 'Swamp Ghost'.
