The Museum has acquired parts from A9-320 and A9-501 as the basis of its project, and is commencing its first public appeal for fund raising, to assist in further parts acquisition and the eventual restoration and display of the aircraft, to become one of six remaining world wide, and the only one in Victoria, along side the rare and restored DAP Beaufighter already in the museum’s collection.

Evening,

Both of these at one stage belonged to No 1 Squadron. A9-320 first served with 100 Sqn and was coded QH-Q. Ran off runway 13/08/43, with the aircraft being extensively damaged Gurney PNG. She was later converted to Mk9 Transport and renumbered A9-742 circa 30/01/45. A9-501 served also with 1 Sqn. But I haven't a code yet for her. Her end came when she crashed on the 18/03/45, when landing at Gove NT. I think she was converted on site.

Just to add some background.

Love the old War Savings Bonds poster attached, sort of says it all in 1942

Best
