Kokoda tour

Post by Imprint »

Hey guys I only stumbled accross this site yesterday at work while looking for discussions on kokoda the movie.

I was wondering if anyone has any info on who does a good battleground tour package for kokoda, I'm not interested in doing the actual trek as it would probably kill me, but really want to check out the battlegrounds and take it all in.

if not kokoda, any other aussie themed pacific war battleground tour would be great.

any help would be much appreciated

I'd love to do something like that, I just wonder the the guides would have a problem if I bring some beer along for the trip..ya know, in case I get thirsty. Trekking along the track all day, and the climbing, slipping and falling, then to take a rest w. a cold beer and take in the history. That's something I'd really like to do. Too bad I can't just hop on a plane and go...married w/ a beautiful daughter and a nagging wife, lol, and not enough $$$ due to my job @ Ford having so much down time..damn gas prices.

Thanks Phil I'll check it out

I don't actually want to do the trail as I doubt I would survive with my physique.

I'm after something like this http://www.battletours.com.au/png_anzacday.htm

or even more specific, this http://www.pacificwrecks.com/walkabout/itinerary.html

PNG rabaul trip

Post by Dan King »

I'd love to go on a PNG - Rabaul trip as outlined in your link! I went to Rabaul in '03 with Gary Wachter guided by Tom Mcleod (Museum of the Pacific in Texas) and had a fantastic time. I think Tom is planning on a big trip in '07.

DVD Guide to trekking Kokoda

Post by Juleso »

The best way to prepare for a Kokoda trek is by being as informed as possible about the conditions you will face. DVD guides are great because you can actually see what you'll be encountering...

Kokoda Guide DVD - the best way walk the Kokoda Track

Post by Juleso »

For those of considering walking the Kokoda Track, our new guide - the Kokoda Challenge DVD Guide - can make all the difference between a successful and unsuccessful walk. It's made by people who have walked Kokoda many time and love the people and the country of Papua New Guinea. It tells (and shows) you about tour companies, gear, terrain, supplies, climate, boots and much more and is a really great start to getting prepared to confront the Kokoda Trail.

Cheers,

Juliana.
