P-51's escorting B-29 videoclip

Post by leaustin » Wed Sep 20, 2006 11:39 pm

While doing some online research for the 2nd edition of a book I've written, I found this amazing footage of P-51s attacking Japan in 1945 on YouTube. Here's the link to this 5-minute tape. It is incredible.

Hi leaustin:

Very nice video! Can you identify the enemy planes?

No, even using full-screen I can't see the enemy planes that well plus I'm not an expert on aircraft anyway.

Some excellent ... but scary footage in there. A pity it's such low res.

I believe one aircraft is a Ki-46-III and another appears to be a G4M2. Some of the single engine stuff looks to be like a Ki-44. I could be wrong though...
