KOKODA Released

Post by Daniel Leahy » Thu Apr 20, 2006 7:59 am

Hi All,

The new KOKODA movie was released in Australian cinemas today. As mentioned in another post here, the official website for the movie can be found at:
http://www.kokodathemovie.com

I've just returned from seeing this flick and have to say that I am very impressed. Although you can tell it's shot in Australia, it is extremely well put together and seems to cover the style of fighting as well as the feelings of the time.

The movie's not a SAVING PRIVATE RYAN or THIN RED LINE style of film, but it's good to see an Australian movie on the subject and finally a movie about the war in Papua New Guinea.

If you get a chance, check it out!

Kokoda movie

I'd love to see it. Do you know if it will be coming to the States? I want to learn more about the Australian efforts against the Japanese. All we are exposed to here in the US is the American involvement.

No U.S. release, even on DVD

Apparently, the distributors of this movie don't feel there is enough interest in the U.S. to bother making the DVD available here. I wonder, if the producers thought about, ot tried to get Mel Gibson involved in it somehow..his name would have generated interest, and even if the movie itself is sub-par, as some of the Aussie reviews I've read have said it is, it still would have been released here, if only on DVD.

I'd still like to see it, but I'm not going to run out and buy a PAL capable player just for one movie.

I'm unable to find a US version of this DVD as yet, so chances are it won't be released in America anytime soon.

Here is the Amazon page for the DVD:
