Solomons / Rabaul WW2 airfield recon images

Hi,

I am desperatly searching for old high resolution, top-down recon images of WW2 airfields in the Solomons and around Rabaul. I know there are a lot to be found in the PW archives, but they are in a very low resolution. My search in some archives and over google were fruitless up to now.
Maybe someone on this forum knows where these old USAAF / USN / USMC images can be accessed?

Hi Mark,

I've just done a quick search of US Air Force Photos on the Fold3 website for the word "Rabaul" and it returns 180 results - some of these are just ground shots where the caption mentions "Rabaul", others are aerial shots, and others are of the 'top down' kind - such as this one of Rabaul town:

I haven't gone through all of these, but you should have some luck through that site.
