Maj. Kenneth McCullar Crew

Post by Anthony J. Mireles »

Looking for a complete crew list for the B-17E (41-9209) piloted by Maj. Kenneth McCullar (63BS/43BG), which crashed while taking off from Jackson Airdrome, Port Moresby, NG, on 12 April 1943. This is the B-17 crash that many have erroneously believed was caused by the airplane striking a kangaroo. That story has proven to be false. I need the crew list. Here is what I have so far:

Maj. Kenneth McCullar, pilot;
SSgt. Michael J. Paz, Bridgeport, NJ;
SSgt. Pierre O'Grady, Ft. Kent, Maine.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Tony,

Crew list as requested:

Maj Kenneth D McCullar, O-393172
2/Lt Byron G Andrews, O-665265
2/Lt Blaine McCord Jr, O-733445
2/Lt John W Schultz Jr, O-662304
T/Sgt Elmer R Hansen, 16028554
S/Sgt Philip A Zumwalt, 16019084
Sgt Bert F Bredemeir, 17038221
Cpl George A Mowad, 18089283
Pvt David W Stuckey, 14068148
S/Sgt Pierre R O'Grady, 6146594
S/Sgt Michael J Paz Jr, 7021462

According to what I have here, a dead wallaby was found on the runway, but as you say, not the cause of the accident.

Hope this helps...
