Info regarding Consolidated B-24J s/n 64070

Post by John Bergen »

Folks, while living in Kanpur, India in 1963 my brother and I explored the wreck of Consolidated B-24J s/n 64070 located at the Kanpur (British spelling was "Cawnpore"?) Airport. The aircraft was essentially intact. We salvaged the Consolidated and USAAF number plates and a few other small items.

Have tried to get aircraft record card from AF with as yet no success.

Any info you could provide about this aircraft would be appreciated.

Thanks!

JB

Yes, very helpful, thanks very much. Also thorugh investigating the Warbirds of India website I suspect that the aircraft may later have been transferred to the Indian Air Force. Am checking that out.

Sorry for omission on serial number should have been 42-64070 as you noted.
