Hello all, jose50 here. My interest in the Pacific theater of WW2 was instigated by my dad who was a USMC officer during that time. Growing up I was often told stories of what it was like during that time. Of course, then, WW2 was recent history, a matter of 10-15 years.
In the course of my investigations I have communicated with several memebers of that "greatest generation" who knew CAPT. DALY both as a young 2nd LT and later as commander of MARDET onboard the USS SOUTH DAKOTA.
I intend to keep searching for info and anecdotes to keep the memory of dad fresh.
Again, if anyone has any stories/info/anecdotes about him or of Guadalcanal, the 1st MARDIV in Australia, USS SOUTH DAKOTA, or USMC medical facility PARRIS ISLAND (1945-46), please leave a post where I can find it.
Thanks much, jose50 (Joe Daly)
