Pagoda on Henderson Field

Post by roger-wilco-66 »

Gents,

I am trying to locate where the famous Pagoda stood on Henderson field / Guadalcanal.
Pictures suggest the right place, but I don't know how the runways is oriented in the images.
So, if you face in the 60° direction of the runway, was the Pagoda to the left or to the right?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi, This is my first post, but I wanted to share a picture of my dad, Robert D. Estrem (he went by 'Bob' or 'R.D.', or even 'Esty' and is on the left in this picture. He passed away back in 1965, but I found his log book where he mentioned flying into Henderson Field, and also flying around the Johnson Islands. Has anyone got any other info on the "Maid in The USA"?

Thank you, and God Bless our Veterans & active troops!

Dave
