My uncle was an iwo jima vet. He came home with granade shrapnel in his back. It always gave him problems. I was too young to talk to him about his service, but he was a great guy. James Shea was his name. He is/was from Lasalle Illinois. I wish he was still around.
I have never been to Iwo, bit I was at Pelileu, Palau 6 months ago. Walking that battlefiel was one the most powerful experiences of my life. I,m going back too.
I would love to hear from you sir. Indeed, I would like to hear from any Vet.
